The Zoo

I was realizing that the zoo doesn't really deserve it's own post....oh well. I do have quite a few pictures so it will be mostly a picture post.
Tiny loves animals so she has a blast at the zoo but the highlight of our zoo trip was the tigers! They were super active and very easy to see. One of them even went swimming and he was so close to us! Seriously, it was just the glass between us. It was AWESOME!
So...yeah....that was the zoo!

The State Fair

Eric and I have gone to the fair every year that we've been together! I LOVE the fair and he tolerates it because he loves me. :-) It was so much fun to be able to take Izzy this year, I was hugely pregnant last time we went, it was nice to have the baby on the outside this time!

We went to the fair on September 12th. It was supposed to be low 70's and cloudy with a chance of rain. It was not. It was low 80's and not a cloud in the sky. We weren't prepared for it to be quite so hot; luckily there are several air conditioned buildings to keep us from killing ourselves!
Izzy was very well behaved, like she usually is. There were a couple of times she's was mad that she couldn't crawl on the dirt or stand at the goat pen for 20 minutes but all in all she was wonderful.
We got there just in time for lunch. :-) Eric got a Philly cheese steak from "Moochies" (The most wonderful cheese steak and meatballs sandwiches EVER come from Moochies. If you have not been yet, you must go!!!), I got some BBQ and Izzy got a fruit filled crepe. Fair food is generally very yummy and VERY expensive. We blew way too much money at the fair that day!!
After food, we started wandering through all the booths, which I love. I love seeing all the crazy things people are selling. There was a big tent run by an Asian couple that had tons of $1, $2, $3, and $5 things. We bought Izzy a "blackberry" and an adorable headband and Daddy bought an awesome hat! He knows it has a turquoise strip and he STILL bought it! :-) By the way, Eric tried to put that darling headband on his own head about 4 hours later and broke it in half. *sigh*
After some shopping and booth wandering we headed to the animals. Tiny loves animals and so this is where we spent most of our time. *WARNING: IF TALK AND/OR PHOTOS OF NAKED ANIMALS DOES NOT FIT YOUR STANDARDS, SKIP THIS NEXT SECTION! :-)
There are some amazing looking animals at the fair. Obviously everyone is trying to win best in show, so a lot of the animals are a beautiful example of their breed. One of these that we saw was a bull. I know the picture won't do him justice but he was AMAZING, absolutely beautiful. We also saw a very pretty cow baby piggies and piggies "napping on each other and the cutest baby goat ever! The best though was the male sheep with the GIGANTIC testies! They were something to write home about FOR SURE! Again, the picture won't do them justice but they were...wow!
As I mentioned previously, we spent a lot of the time at the animals for Tiny. After the animals she conked out in her stroller so Eric and I went through the fine arts building and 1 other building that was much better to go through while she was sleeping. :-) By the time she woke up, Uncle Ted had just arrived. We spent about an hour walking around with him, and I got some delicious pineapple ice cream something, before we left to take Tiny to the babysitters.
We dropped Tiny off with Anna Karr and picked up Caleb on a street corner and headed back to the fair. Once back at the fair Caleb and I went on the big yellow slide. I've been to the fair a lot and never actually gone down the slide. I waited for Caleb to get there so I could do it with him, cuz Eric didn't care about it. It was WAY more awesome than it should have been. You just get on a sack and go down this long slide with a couple of bumps in it, but it was RIDICULOUSLY fun! I cannot explain why, it just was.

Then we wandered some more, and everyone, except me, got food. (The line was too long at the place I wanted to go.) Eric and Caleb got some Hawaiian food and Ted got a fried Twinkie, which he claimed was delicious

...I'm still skeptical of that.
Then it was time for Weird Al!!! Eric and I saw him a few years ago, last time he was at the State Fair and it was a blast. This year we bought tickets really close (although there was a pole blocking some of our view. Boo!) and got one for Caleb and Ted too. We were sitting right next to Josh and Jennie Richardson (on purpose) and across the isle from a bunch of our other theater friends (not on purpose). The concert was great, like we expected it would be. He mixed in a lot of old stuff with his new album, which was fun, and he encored with his Star Wars songs! Awesome Encore!!! Seriously, the concert was rockin' I'm so glad we went. He's so much fun to see live!

All in all, awesome day with some of my most favorite people in the whole world!

Next post, if I can get my butt in gear, will be about the zoo. And then Isabelle's First Birthday!!!
